Moral Dilemma
#1
Hey Guys and Gals!

I wanted to gauge opinions on this popular dilemma, and the actual yay/nay persuasion of the community we are all a part of.

The rule in question is: Specific time periods for griefing a certain structure.

I personally agree with this, and so do a few other members of the community, while others believe in the 'if you don't protect it, it's your fault' rule. I use it only on my Farnsworth Houses, which are becoming more common in the landscape (There's 4 of them now, and 1 under construction). Griefing one (because all but one are unprotected) will result in a 10x worse punishment, as I like these houses, and I want to trust the community to be able to see these houses without protection. I saw a sign the other day saying 'grief results in a 12 day jail', which was brought to my attention by Jake, who removed 2 blocks, and I was halfway through the jail command before he put them back.

Heres the question: Do you agree? Should other people be allowed to jail for that extended time period if the structure is not theirs? Opinions, please.

Keep building!

Jack

In all honestly, I try not to be biased in jailing, whether it's my house, or some random guy who joined the server an hour before I logged on. I tend to look for more when it's my stuff being griefing, as opposed to just rolling back the other persons. I don't take lightly on griefing, which is why I usually grief, I say "You better hope you don't get caught by me", because I was a member for a very long time. I know how it feels to lose my stuff. I know how it feels having to rebuild time and time again, basically to the point to where you hide your home from everyone. I try to keep that off this server.

ive had too many close calls.
and i wasnt trying to grief. i was trying to prove the point that if i were to break 2 blocks. is a 12 day jail neccesary and if he would go to that trouble. why cant he be screwed to mine 9 bits of lapis lazuli? it isnt that hard.
so in my opinion.. it is wrong.
it shouldnt happen
unless the person is known for griefing...
Saying f*** you to people who hurt you feels really good.
