Donations, a very controversial topic. - mattjtv - 2013-04-05 Metazard wrote:Metazard wrote:mattjtv wrote:"Would creative mode ever get taken away from SuperDonors D:" That was just creative mode... Donations, a very controversial topic. - Metazard - 2013-04-05 No you got him to deny the whole thing? Didn't you? "Inspiron says no commands are being lost WOoooo" There was tons of stuff. Tons. Donations, a very controversial topic. - mattjtv - 2013-04-05 Metazard wrote:No you got him to deny the whole thing? Didn't you? As you saw in the convo I pasted from skype, I was talking about creative mode. Saying all the commands are staying was a mistake. I agree with what meta is saying, but it isn't a general concencus of the people who have these ranks. People that ruin the ranks are the ones who should be bearing this reduction. I have a theory though People have a choice, they can either stay as they are (Survival) or they can take some of the challenge away. People buy SuperDonor because they want to not be in survival. People also use SD to be 'mods' as such, I felt safer on the server when there was a SD on, but now I'm VIP-Obsidian, there's still things I'm limited to. I had to ask a SD last week if he could destroy a few blocks, because I couldn't believe how long it took for me to break every block. Creative mode should be here to stay. /kill not so much, this command is only for unjust killing, and is used exactly like that. It degrades mctopia's values. If it is taken away, not many will complain. Donations, a very controversial topic. - challenger410 - 2013-04-09 /kill is already removed, only admin have it. I think I see it one time, and that was to take looted things out of a members inventory, when plugins were down. The key word is repeat, as one offence cannot be an excuse to demote people. Only Inspiron should be allowed to do this, as having even an Admin liberating the demotions would be very inappropriate. Heres my usual Question sheet to help answer any queries. 1 - Why Demote people rather than take away commands As was brought up many times, the term donate means you receive perks for the donation. The practice is followed IRL too, in fundraising activities, people are encouraged to get 'Sponsored' to gain a certain amount of money, and as a reward, they get a prize of sorts. If a person cheated, using swiss bank accounts and the like, the prize can be revoked, but the money not returned. This should be the case, as there are many that follow the rules and as a result get rewarded. The SD's deserve every bit of their rank, as they are keeping the server alive for many months due to their $100+ donations. Taking away commands not only penalises those who disrespect the rules, but those that contribute to the community not only monetarily, but with engaging in the community to get their $100's worth of enjoyment. Demoting allows people that don't have those values to be brought back into a rank that suits their behaviour. These people can also earn their way back to their original rank. 2 - Any Flaws? Can they be minimalised? There are 2 major flaws in this plan: False Positives and Ragequiting. The False Positive side of things is quite serious. Admins and other trusted members of staff could report people because they have done something minor, and make it sound like a war declaration was sent to said staff member. Inspiron could take the word as fact and demote the person. My solution to the problem is this, Research and Avoidance. Research: This is on Inspi's part, looking at not only said staff's complaint, but at other witnesses. Asking the question 'Would this be the kind of thing this suspect would do?' would be enough to fulfill this requirement. The Avoidance part is with the suspect him/herself. Avoid doing things that could break rules. A Four tier system would also help determine the action taken Tier 1: First or second rule break (Same Rule) (Minor) -Warning -Jail for >1 hour -Education Tier 2 First or Second Rule break (Same Rule) (Major) -Jail for >1 Day -Education -Serious Warnings Tier 3: 3rd Warning (Any) -Temp Ban -Jail >1 Week - Warning about Demotion or PermaBans Tier 4: Repeat Offence -Demotion to appropreate rank -PermaBan -Put onto a 'Watchlist' to make sure offender doesn't slip the net Of Course this can be altered, these tiers are only suggestions for possible reprimands. The higher the rank, the further the fall. Any more?
