It would be hard to get used to, but there isn't another way to stop people from making OP items.

Not necessarily that. It would also make iron/diamonds worth something again. Nobody can use /i to spawn diamond blocks, so if we did the same to all forms of diamonds, iron, and emeralds, it would make them worth something again. Our survival server we used to know, has basically became creative, with how easy it is to ask irresponsible members of our community to spawn them items.
