Thunder is the sound caused by lightning. So you can hear thunder and see lightning at the same time.

Yes, because light travels at 299,792,458 meters per second, and sound only travels 340.29 meters per second, so lightning is way faster than the thunder, but you can experience them both in the same few seconds.
