Guidance From His Dad
#1
Good morning

I am hoping someone here can help me. I have a 10 year old son that plays Minecraft on the Inspironwins server together with a handfull of friends (all from Sweden) whilst also connected to Skype. He spoke to me yesterday because he had been jailed.

Now, I know nothing about Minecraft (but am realising that I need to know about it!!) so I have spent the last few hours trying to learn something! From what I can see, it appears that he has done something wrong and the administrators of the server have jailed him (what a great idea)!

I have googled this and discovered that there are some commands that might help me/him to identify how long he has to wait and what he did wrong. Can someone enlighten me as to what they are?

He speaks and reads quite good English but I don't think he (and up to now myself) realised just what a complex game this is. I have printed your rules page and will go though it with him and his friends. Is there a "Minecraft For Dummies" guide somewhere?

Many thanks

I suggest that you watch many you tube videos. That helped me a lot. My dad doesn't know much about minecraft

Thanks Awesomeboo, I've already started down that route. Some good stuff there too.

In the context of rules in minecraft it can mainly depend on the kind of server and its rules. On McTopia The rules are posted on signs on the walls at spawn right down the end. The main rules would have to be: No Griefing, No spamming, No killing people in their houses and no asking for promotion. Of course there are other rules that may vary depending on the rank of the player. For instance those with the rank [MOD] cannot teleport to people and kill them, but for players under mod this is not a problem as they do not have access to the instant teleport command, rather they have to settle for /tpa which sends a request to the person you would like to go to, then that person has to accept the tpa by typing /tpaccept.

Your son should be released if it was something very small and not a big issue in a matter of hours, if he is a repeat offender or broke one or more of the large rules he may have to leave his computer on for a couple days and sit and wait in jail. To be released, on this server you have to actually be on the server in jail for your time in jail to lower and for you to get closer to being released.

As for learning the fundamentals of minecraft you might want to, as awesomeboo said, watch videos on youtube but I think personly the only think tying with that is to go to the minecraft wiki. It will teach you everything about minecraft, but usual doesn't have that much visual help other than a picture of the animal, block or tool you are learning about.

Hope this helped, Metazard

You do not have to be online for the jail
time to count down.

Yea, you just have to log on once for the jail to register that you are in jail, and start counting down. But I don't think you have to worry about that because he knows he is in jail. I would like to know your sons username, maybe I know who jailed him, as I am on A LOT.
