3RD PERSON

"'Hi there avi!" Ahri says as the walks into the room.
"Hello ahri!" avi replies "I think my wings are starting to grow!!!" Avi feels her shoulder blades
"Im glad! i will see if i can help you for your first flight when the time comes." Ahri smiles in a caring way.
"Yaaaay! thank you ahri!" Avi jumps onto ahri's back and sits on her head "Vroooommm, vrooooommm! im flying ahri im flying!"
Ahri runs, and holds avi in place with one of her many tails while avi giggles ecstatically
"Thank you ahri! that was so fun!"
Avi hugs ahri
"Your welcome little bird." she replies and hugs avi with all nine of her tails involved. avi loved it when ahri hugged her, it made her feel safe and warm
Colli walks into the room, attracted by the noise.
"Whats going on in here guys?" she inquires
"Ahri let me fly colli! it was so fun!!" Avi replies while giggling.
"That is great avi! i cant wait to see your wings." Colli beamed and ruffled avi's hair
"Thank you colli! i think im going to go play with ella now, okay?" Avi skipped off to play with ella
"Ahri?" Colli asked "Could you teach me a few things with magic please? you seem to be great at it yourself!"
Ahri looked at colli and said "What do you need help with colli?"
"Well, i love to study magic but i cant seem to cast it very well.." Colli looked sad
Ahri thought for a moment and replied "Do you feel that warmth inside of your body? its strongest in your heart, but it flows through your whole body. concentrate really hard until you think you can feel it"
Colli closed her eyes and her brows furrowed as she tried to feel the energy. suddenly her face lit up and she said "I can feel it ahri, what is that?" she asked
"That is your mana colli, the source of all magic. concentrate harder, try to channel the energy" Colli's brows creased in more concentration after a few seconds her face stopped all signs of pressure. it suddenly looked effortless, and an aura of magic flowed around her. "Whooaoh! ahri! im doing MAGIC! Holy. cow." Ahri smiled
"You seem to have gotten a grip on your mana, advanced mages always have this aura"
Colli looked suprised "Really? this doesnt seem that hard..." Ahri smiled wider "It means you have great talent colli, i guess it is my job to refine that talent! you shall be my student, i will teach you magic." Ahri looked triumphant.
"Wow!! Really ahri?!? you will do that for me? THANK. YOU!" Colli ran over and hugged ahri. "You sould go rest alittle, and practice your aura a bit more. the more you practice, the more effortless it becomes. you are advancing fast, you sould be able to keep the aura nonstop soon" Colli beamed with happiness, and said "See you later ahri!!" and skipped away happily, not unlike the way avi did. Ahri sighed contently and went out to go get some liver to eat with a smile.

AVI'S POV

The blue in the sky fades to orange a pink.
"Ahri I'm going outside!" I shout
"Okay! Dont go too far" She shouts back.
I open up the door and I sit on the small hill.
"When will my wings grow?" I mutter to myself. The last ray of sunshine disappears and the sky grows purple. I get up and brush the snow off me. I open up the door and come to the table for dinner.
"What are we having for dinner?" Colli asks.
"Pork and water" Ahri says while cooking the pork. She puts the food in front of us and we begin to eat. I mess around with the food a little then eat. I yawn and throw away the leftover food. I plop down on the couch to watch TV for a few minutes before I go to bed. I fall asleep on the couch snoring softly. Ahri brings me to my room and tucks me in. She switches off the TV and heads to her room. I wake up, and notice it is still dark. I tiptoe outside of my room and walk downstairs. I look at the clock to find out its 10:00 PM. I tiptoe back into my room and try to sleep. I couldn't fall asleep so I looked at the books I had in my room.
"I have read ALL of these" I thought. I sneak into Ella and Colli's room and look at their books. I grab one that has to do with magic.I read until I get drowsy so I put the book back. I fall asleep once more. I wake up. It's STILL dark. I peek at the clock, it's 11:53 Pm. I Try and try to fall asleep but I just couldn't. In fact I wasn't tired at all. I walked into Ahri's room to tell her I couldnt sleep. I walk up to her bed and whisper "Ahri! Ahri!!"
I nudge and poke her. It's like she can't feel me at all! I try to wake up anyone in the house, no luck.
I think for a moment.
"Am I a ghost? Did I die in my sleep?" I try falling down the stairs. I DO get hurt.
"Not a ghost." I say.
Another thought pops into my head.
"DId time stop and IM the only one who is able to stop it?" I look at The clock again. Nope. It still moves. I look down sadly. Then I notice something. I'm somewhat transparent.
"What?!" I think. I walk into my room again. Then I see me, but not transparent. I try to find a boom that might help, but for some reason I can't pick it up. It's not heavy. I just... Can't pick it up. I can't interact with anything. I go to the front door. Yep. I can't interact with anything. I look through the window. I see a figure.
I begin to panic.
"A stranger is coming to our house and I cants stop it!" Then the figure comes closer. I blink in surprise. It's another of my kind AND it's somewhat transparent like me!

COLI'S POV

I wake up in the morning, right at the crack of dawn. Pink is leaking into the sky and clouds so I rush towards the door. No one would see me anyway. as I sneak past Avi's room, I hear a moan. It sounded low. Quiet. Pained. Inching open the door, I tiptoe in with my ears erect and alert. My gold eyes search out Avi, laying soundless in her bed. Creepin forward to her, she has purple bruises on her face and arms. Gasping, I grab some makeshift bandages, pages out of a book. I hope they aren't important. Avi is mumbling incomprehensibly. trying to make sense of what is going on, I say, "It'll be alright Avi. Pretend this is an adventure! I'll be back soon." After about half an hour I'm back with some slightly stale bread to feed Avi. she has a big scar running down her shoulder blade. accidently dropping the bread, I fumble with it half scared to death. blood sinks into the nearby feathers and skin. Taking off pages from the bruises, I pile them onto the wound. "I wish Ahri was here, she knows EVERYTHING about healing!" Sighing, I get clean bread while munching on the stale bread. I then realize several minutes later that I can wake Ahri up. Dashing to her room, I prod her in the eyes and say, "AHRIIIII! Avi needs medicel attenshun!" Ahri's eyes open wide, but are glazed with drowsiness. she stands up and falters, but I can tell she thinks Avi just "bruised a knee." Looking at her worriedly I say, "It's serious." Of course, like all other people- or creatures- she thinks I am exaggerating about it being serious. Tugging on her arm, I pull her to Avi's dark room. My skin is pale and I'm sweating hard. Ahri senses this and walks without the tug on her arm. "is there blood, hon?" I nod slowly, scared. "Now Colli, how did it happen? It's 4:00 in the morning." Shaking my head, I whisper, "It appeared out of nowhere. she moaned and mumbled and... I'm so worried!" Ahri opens the door, and strides into the darkness towards the candle by Avi's bed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AVI'S POV
The strange figure walks closer. I realize we left a window open and he squeezes through. I realize I'm shivering, then I fluff up my feathers to try and show I'm not scared.
"You must be Avi" He assumes. His voice was strong and loud. He had a bold appearance. His feathers were shades of browns and grays. His ambers eyes seemed as if he could read my thoughts. I nod.
"An-And who are YOU?" I say trying not to sound scared.
"I am Talon. As you can see, I am one like you." He says. He seems to read my mind.
"You are in The Spirit Land"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AHRI'S POV

I see how serious her wounds are and i call my orb to my side. when it gets here, i walk over to avi and watch her looking intent at the window and talking to herself.
"Avi? are you alright?" what a stupid question. its not like she has serious wounds all over her body! i begin the process to heal avi's wounds. my orb glows a green color, not like the color when i am stealing souls, a softer, more reassuring color. her wounds begin to close when she gets a shocked expression on her face, wherever her mind was, it was not here. i wondered what she could be doing in her own little world... I leave her in her bed when the wounds finish healing and start talking with colli. "How do you think it happened?" i asked
"I dont know, i just heard a low moan while i was passing her room and went to check on her" Colli replied.
"Very strange indeed, we may have to ask her when she is out of that trance" i said
"Ahri? would yo mind giving me some more magic lessons? it might help calm me down."
"It might calm me down too, i think ill do it." while we were downstairs, i think we woke somebody up because we heard footsteps coming down.
"I wonder who that could be..." Colli said.
"I dont know, it sounds like two pairs of feet, one of them are male, one female" i replied, alert.
"How can you tell?" Colli asked, astonished at my amazing hearing
"Its quite easy to distinguish if you think about it, male footsteps are more clunky and loud. while females are more cautious or considerate." i said back. when they got here we saw it was Emma and a very attractive boy. me and colli's stances changed at the same time, to more flirtatious. foxes are known for their flirtatiousness. we exchanged looks and our fox minds told us we were both thinking the same thing. i subtly jerked me head twords him.
"Ahri, Colli, we have a new guest in the house. This is Mason" she gestured to the boy
"Its nice to meet you" i said in a seductive voice as i stepped twords them "I hope we can get to know each-other better" and i gave an indicative smile. Colli smiled at Mason and winked, in a more subtle but noticeable way. this house has never been so fun
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AVI'S POV
Talon continued to tell me about the Spirit Land.
"So is it only us two?" I wonder.
"No. there are some others." He replies.
"Why have you come to me though? I'm sure you didn't come here to chat." I ask.
"This "family" of yours... You cannot trust them" He begins
"Wha-?" I begin to say when we interrupts.
"They are using, well are going to use you. The don't really care for you." He continues to tell lies. Im not sure if I should believe him or not.
"You have two choices. You stay with your so called family, or you can join my side, and stop them. Your choice" He tells me. I blink.
What? Should I believe him? Talon, someone I JUST met. In a strange land like this! I won't believe him.
"I am staying with my family! They were always at my side!" I shout at him. "I don't believe you!"
"Wrong choice" He growls. He lunges forward and slashes my shoulder. Everything goes black for about 4 seconds. Then I open my eyes And blink twice.
Ahri notices the mumbles have stopped.
"She's back!" She shouts.
Back? I wonder.
STILL AVI'S POV
At first everything was blurry. But then my vision returned to normal. Colli rushes forward.
"Avi! Where we're you?! we were so worried! Are you sick? What Happened?" She asks. She sure was curious.
"Colli don't overwhelm her. I think she has been through enough for one day." Ahri says while gesturing towards my wounds.
Realizing how much I hurt I grab my arm. It really hurt.
"I think she should rest" Colli says.
"No.. I want to stay up. WH-what have I missed?" I say while wincing in pain.
"You missed nothing but us panicking." Colli replies. I could see the others upstairs glancing at me.
...
...
It seems as if there was nothing to talk about. the only thing we could talk about is what happened.
"How about you read one of your books. and if you need anything call me!" She was about to walk off until I called out
"But Ahri! I read all of my books. And I looked at the pictures. The only books I haven't read are in Colli's room."
"Then watch the TV." She calls back
"But-" I clamp my my teeth together when I feel pain shoot up my arm once more.
"But why can't I read Colli's books?" I ask Ahri.
"Just watch the TV!" Colli shouted.
"Why can't I read her books?" I grumble. I sit down on the couch and I pull a pillow under my head. I switch on the TV only to find baby cartoons and stuff like that.I turn it off and I stare at the ceiling.
Will this wound affect the growth of my wings?
Just the thought of that made me sweat. I cross my legs and grab the boom next to me. It was a big chapter boom.
I bet I can read this!
I start to read. I close the book. No I didn't finish it! But I learned plenty of new words. I turn to my side and take a nap. I wake up at the sound of Ahri yelling
"Dinner is ready!" She calls. I stretch, yawn, and get to me feet.
"Comin'!" I tell Ahri. I eat a meal of steak, carrots, and milk. I got cookies as a treat too. I could pretty much sense their worry. They think I will change because of that visit. You know what? I will
ALICE'S POV
It was cold. So cold outside. My soft pink feet patted against the snow, my fluffy white ears shivering. I was small. Very small. Why? Because now I was a bunny. That was one of my forms...bunny form. I had four of them: human, bunny, and two other form that no one but me knew about.
Upon my shivering and stumbling, I came across a large house. At least there was a few lanterns in the front. The doorstep wasn't too snowy, so I huddled up next to the door and tried to sleep. Tucking my ears, I drifted off, my whole body shaking and accumulating ice. Suddenly, the door opened. I had been leaning against the door, so I fell in, little white paws grasping the floor, searching for something, anything to steady myself on. Unfortunately, there was nothing to steady myself, so my padded pink paws clambered at nothing.
My big innocent eyes looked up. A pretty girl with pointed ears and foxlike facial features looked down at me. She smiled and her gaze softened, but something about her frazzled hair and wild eyes told me that something was wrong, very wrong. She scooped me into her arms and ran upstairs. I heard her murmur, "You poor thing. You'll be my new pet bunny." I was met by chaos. There was a girl with feathers and a beak bleeding all over the floor. Another fox girl was trying to wake up the bird-girl. The first fox girl set me on the windowsill, and bundled me in a warm towel. She ran to the bird girl's aid.
The bird girl was twitching and talking in her slumber. Something about spirits and stuff. The first wolf girl screamed out "Colli!" To the other wolf girl. I guess her name was Colli. Colli responded quickly with catlike sounds and words that I assumed to be some sort of fox language. I later discovered she was just mumbling pretty quickly. Stress and tension draped the room like a thick black curtain. The bird girl was regaining consciousness. Her limbs flailed and her feathers stood on end. She began twitching and jerking.
Finally her eyes fluttered open and her body stopped moving. The calm after the storm. She sat up, running her eyes over her wounds. Everything about her facial features had a haunted look. She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out. She had the look of a drowning animal, wide-eyed, pale-faced, dry-throated appearance.
"T-T-Talon..." She stammered.
Then she passed out again. I knew she wouldn't remember any of that...but no matter. She awoke and began watching TV...
I sat with her. She fell asleep again, her two long fingers petting the star-shape on my back. My fluffy ears flattened as I began to feel a warm, pooling sensation in my stomach. Suddenly a blast of comfortable heat rose up in me. My eyes squeezed shut. I began to transform.
A blinding flash of white, and I exploded into a girl form. I was a teenager, with black, curly hair. My skin glowed a pale alabaster white. Often confused for a vampire, since my eyes were a dark red shade. It was only natural. A lot of bunnies had a reddish tint to their eyes. So I wore blue contacts, making my eyes purple.
I sat there on the couch, in human form, with a hint of cute bunny-esque-ness. The first fox girl came in, shocked to see me.
"Who are you?!"
I smiled. "I'm Alice, and I'm your new pet bunny."
3RD PERSON
Ahri was taking a walk in the woods one day when she heard... music. A song... a sweet wonderful song. Ahri froze. A girl with copper hair, and big greens eyes walked in front of her. She looked around 15, but there was a look deep in this girl's eyes that told he she was much older. She was singing. Singing something in a different language. This girl was powerful. Magical. Enchanted. Her voice was like numbing medicine. Ahri tried to speak, but couldn't. The girl stopped singing, and looked at Ahri. Ahri slowly became more aware of everything.
"Who.. Who are you?" Ahri managed to say.
"Purity," the girl said, "I am cleanness, clearness, clarity, freshness; sterility, healthiness, safety. I'm virtue, morality, goodness, righteousness, saintliness, piety, honor, honesty, integrity, decency, ethicality, impeccability; innocence, chastity. But I prefer to just be called Purity."
Ahri stood there, dumbfounded.
"I'm lost. I'm not wanted, or needed anywhere." Purity said.
"I... I can help you" Ahri said.
"You can live with me. I live in a big home, with other people who are... different." Ahri said, feeling confident.
AVI'S POV
This bunny, or half bunny, is now Colli's pet. If came a few minutes ago. I want to know more about Alice.
"Bedtime!" Ahri called out.
"But where will Alice stay?" I ask.
"We'll figure it out. just go to bed." I walked up the stairs and opened the door to my room. I could feel Ahri's concerned gaze. She thinks it might happen again. I know tomorrow will be filled with questions. I squeeze my eyes shut and drifted off to sleep.
I wake up seeing a bandage over my injured arm. I smile.
Ahri is so caring
I open the door and shut it with my foot. I walk down the stairs to see everyone at the table.
they didn't wake me up! I oversplept! well. I suppose they didn't want me to be tired. And it's not like I have school. Better prepare myself for the questions.
I sit down, prepared for the questions.
"What was going on when I first came here?" Alice wonders.
"Well. It was sorta like she fainted" Ahri answers. Everyone turned to me.
Sighing, I say "Well it started when I woke up for the second time. I was going to tell you, Ahri, that I couldn't sleep. But it was like she couldn't hear or see me. I couldn't interact with anything either. I noticed that I was somewhat transparent. I looked out the window to see another of my kind, also transparent. His name was Talon and he told me what was going on. I was in a Land called the Spirit Land. He told me that no one would see me, hear me, or feel me. He also told me that if I get hurt in that land I get hurt in real life." I gesture to my bruises. the wanted to hear more. "I got these bruises because I thought I was a ghost so I jumped down the stairs." I heard Colli giggle so I glared at her.
"Talon told me that I couldn't trust you all. That you were using me and you never cared for me. he gave me the choice of staying with you or joining his side, and stopping you. I told him I wanted to stay with you all. he attacked me for making the "wrong choice". Oh. also he told me I can't control my visits to the Dream Land. they just happen."
they all looked bewildered. I sigh.
"Can we just eat?" I ask.
"Okay" Ahri tells me.
"Something's bugging you. Besides all of that stuff that's happening. what is it?" Ahri asks.
"Well. besides the fact it hurts, this scar."
"What about the scar?"
"I think it might affect the growth of my wings" I tell her. Her gaze softens and she smiles.
"No it won't. And when you do grow wings. You will be the best flyer." she promises me.
Put in a good mood I leave the table and I decide to chat with Alice
AHRI'S POV
We all sat by the fire, we decided to play cards, because we all LOVED to play uno when there was nothing else to do.
"We have been getting alot of new guests!" I Say to emma.
"First Mason and James," I gestured to Mason, who i was siting next to
"And then alice, and purity," i gestured to them.
"And now Repaire! will it ever stop? we will run out of room soon..."
"It just means our family of outcasts is getting bigger!" Emma replied
"i guess you are right, they fit right in!" i looked at robby next to me "Some seem to fit in more than others" I said in a flirtatious voice to him. to play with him, i unbuttoned his shirt when he wasnt looking
"H-Hey! what are you doing ahri!" Mason said furiously blushing. I giggled
"Some fox girls just want to have fun" i replied and nodded my head twords colli and chris sitting next to eachother. Colli gave me a sly wink and dropped her cards in front of james, just so she could bend over and pick them up in front of him
"Uno!" Alice bursted out in her adorable voice
"Hey! give US a chance to win will ya?" Purity replied, managing to make her voice sound beautiful even when she was angry. Emma laughed
you have won three times alice! cool it" emma said with a smile.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
COLI'S POV

Still munching on a cold slab of pork, I think about what happened. My pet bunny turned into a girl. My teeth feel as though they are ripping out, this pork is so hard. "Ahri, next time cook the food." I complain. Ahri looks at me sternly. "The house would burn down if I started a fire. This place doesn't a working furnace, Colli." Staring at my feet, I stride up the stairs to my shared room with (Purity?). My ears twitch and shiver in a gust of cold wind coming from a broken window. Grabbing some mud, I seal the window only to make it look odd. Sneaking to my chest of things, I take out my slightly worn book. My diary, I think. Reading over the last time I wrote, I now write about Avi and what she said, and Alice my pet bunny. Quivering, I start to write it out with a small feather dabbed in some ink. "Dear Aurora-" I am interupted as Avi calls to me. "Ask Ahri if I can go outside, Colli!" Stashing my secret treasure, I dash to AVi. "You know what she'll say. 'No, you're too wounded.' Then you'll say, "Oh, I'm fine!" Those words sting me; why was I so mean? Avi looks disappointed but I quickly walk away, guilt churning inside me. I grab one of my old magic books that Ahri gave to me. "Spells and Shape-shifting". Flipping over to a spell, instead of snap-shifting as Ahri forbid me to do, I read what it does. "'Guiding Light Spell: Light your path'". So I start to practice sensing my aura, whatever it was Ahri told me. Concentrating on 'light', I hold my hands out in a small cup. Magical sparks flickered there, but never grew big enough for light. Trying again and again, I get frustrated. "I tried this 50 times in a minute! Why won't it work?!" Panting and seething with angry, I stomp and glance at the book. Step 5: Stay calm. Oops. Calming myself down quickly, I try again. "WOW! I made a light!" A small orb of light hovered above my cupped hands. I run out to tell Ahri.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AHRI'S POV
"Ahri!!! Ahri!!!!!" I Hear colli yell exitedly "I did it!!! I DID MAGIC!!!!!" I looked amazed as she came into the room, she has only been practicing for a month! so much talent...
"That is AMAZING! im so happy for you!" I beamed at the orb of light she had in her hands
"But its really hard to keep it up this way, how do you do it so effortlessly?" She asked hopefully
"Well, there are ways to do magic easier, like for example! scince it is hard to channel magic with just your hands, you could transfer the magic into an item." i told her
"An item?" She said confused
"Yes, an item. such as a staff, wand, or baton. or of you wish, an orb" I smiled and played with my orb, bouncing it with my nine tails.
"Ohhh! that explains alot! one time i saw a girl using light magic, she channeled it with a baton!"
I smiled, because i knew exactly who she was talking about.
"Luxanna Crownguard, she is quite famous isnt she? it does make sense, considering how powerfull she is." I stopped myself before i started to babble.
"But anyway, a magic item can be almost anything! i have seen fans, and even a giant book! i have even seen a man named Ryze, he brought back an old type of magic. he tattooed his body with runes, turning his body into a arcane powerhouse! he is quite a nice man, i sould take you to see him sometime... but anyway, magic can come from a million places, it jsut depends on what suits you the best!" Colli listened to every word i said intently.
"How come it doesnt say that in any of my books ahri?" She inquired
"Because most of the magic schools you learned from are very simple minded. they teach you the basics of magic, but nothing too exiting like elements, or supportive magic... they just make you a simple mage. nothing special or unique." Colli thought that over for a minute.
"What is one of the strangest things you have seen in the magical world ahri?" She asked shyly. i thought about that for a minute, the magic world isnt exactly normal...
"Probably a girl named Annie. She was the daughter of a powerful warlock, and an almost as powerful witch! she uses fire magic" Colli's face lit up when i said fire " She has LIMITLESS talent and potential, probably more than even you! she used magic to subdue an alpha shadow bear when she was 3, and she trapped its spirit in her teddy bear which she named tibbers. when she needs him, she can summon tibbers to fight with her. she is only about 6, yet she is more powerful than most of the people i have seen! her only weakness is her range... she has very short range, but she can use that against most people who fight close range." Colli was amazed at all of the stories i had to tell her.
"Wowww ahri, you have so many stories to tell! i want to learn to be powerful like one of thoose people you mentioned! wow!" Colli was practically bouncing with exitement.
"Okay, i think i have a spell i can teach you. it may suit you very well, and it is one of my favorites! it is called Fox-Fire. it summons three flames that circle around you and hit the nearest enemies." Colli was suprised, she was actually going to be learning a spell, she thought it was going to be all channeling magic energy and stuff.
"Here, let me demonstrate" I twirled and three blue flames appeared and started orbiting around me. Colli stared at them in disbelief
"Colli, raise your aura and come closer" So she did and when she got close enough, the fires chased after her, she looked scared and put her hands in front of her face. but the fire didnt hit her, she raised a shield unintentionally, and it protected her.
"Wha-whaaat?" Colli looked confused "Arent i supposed to be burning right now?" she looked confused
"that is just a sign, you have learned a new spell colli! you can put a spell shield up around you or your allies."
I Smiled at colli, and at the progress she was making.
PURE'S POV
was in my room, reading an old book. I heard excited squeals from Coli. Smiling, I glance outside my window. I saw a... a PERSON out there. A very familiar person... I glide down the stair case, and dash out the door.
"Pure?" Alice calls. I peek behind me, to see Alice standing there, confused.
"Hey Alice. I thought I saw a friend from the past standing outside. I was going to check if anyone was there. I won't be long." I said.
"Ok..." Alice said, warily.
"Everything is fine. This person is nice. Very nice." I say, smiling. I walk Alice back inside.
I jog out to where I thought I saw the person, while I hum a song.
"Purity. We have been waiting for you." a deep voice whispered.
I whip around to see a tall man with black hair and blue eyes. He hoist me over his shoulder. I burst into a fit of laugher as he spins around.
"Puuuurreeee!!! Did I scare ya'? he asks. He puts me down.
"Not a bit," I giggled, poking him in the shoulder.
"I missed you!" he said.
"I miss you MORE, Chives!" I said.
Chives was my older brother, and my best friend. I haven't seen him since I met Ahri.
I grab his arm, and drag him to the house.
"I want you to meet my new family." I proclaim.
ALICE'S POV
After the last time I won at UNO, I saw Purity utside through the window. I went outside to talk to her, but she said she was looking for a friend so I walked sulkily back inside.
Everyone was still playing UNO by the time I started getting drowsy. My black curly hair was still in its black, pigtailed ringlets, complete with Hello Kitty bows. I was sitting next to Robby, after winning nine consecutive games. I yawned, slightly pointy canines biting over my lower lip in a tired smile.
Ahri was unbuttoning Mason's shirt. I wrinkled my nose and scowled.
"Ahri. Stop that. This is not the right time or place for you to flirt." I scowled.
Ahri just laughed at me. She called me cute and poked my button nose. My scowl deepened. But it relaxed quickly, because I knew how to make her stop.
Yawning as cutely as I could, I glanced at Ahri, who was trying to put on the most seductive foxface she could for Mason. I began removing my headscarf that was containing my bunny ears. As soon as the pink scarf came off, my pure white bunny ears popped up, but because of sheer exhaustion, they folded back. Looking up at Mason with my bunny ears descending onto my head, I said:
"I'm tired." With something as simple as that, I put on a cute face, stretched out my arms, and laid my cards on the floor. I curled up and set my head in Mason's lap, falling asleep. I tapped a spot on my neck and the back of my ear, where there were two birthmarks in the shape of constellations. I was motioning for him to pet me there, and he dimly obliged. I smiled happily and relaxed...I calmed down when someone petted me in those two spots. It was kind of animalistic, how I was calm after that. The last thing I saw before drifting into dreamland victoriously was Ahri's flaming angry face, glaring at me for stealing him away.
Unfortunately, I was already sleeping by the time she tried to get me off of him.
I yawn and walk upstairs. I grab the book I read on the night I met Talon. the one about magic.
"Hmm. I want to try this. But how will I explain how I knew how to do magic? I can't tell them I took Colli's book. I'll just practice in my room."
I study the pages carefully. I choose a beginners spell. I pull out my rose, it isn't in bloom, so this is perfect for doing magic."
I concentrate hard. I began to feel the magic. then it stopped. I had tried many times before I got it.
after the 6th time. The plant began to glow a lime green, then it bloomed. the glow faded away. I was so proud. If only I could show them all. I rush the book back into Colli's room. It was pretty much bedtime. So I grabbed my teddy bear and fell asleep. I woke up. In the dark. I squeeze my eyes shut hoping I'm not in the Spirit Land. I look at my hands. I was."Oh no oh no oh no...." I whisper. I tiptoe out of my room.
"Why don't I ever remember to shut my door?" I mutter. The window downstairs was still open. I stare at it. Should I?
I'll do it. I dont want to wait for Talon to come back. I climb through the window and fall into the grass. I get to my feet and walk to the small hill. I see a figure on the top of it.
"oH no.." I whisper. I was about to turn back, but something made me get closer. I wasn't getting controlled, I was just drawn to it. seeing it closer, I notice it's not Talon.
"It's another one from the spirit land!" I gasp. It was a beautiful creamy colored bird.
"I've been waiting for you" she tells me. She sounded beautiful. But not as beautiful as Purity.
"you have?"
"Talon is not to trust."
"I think I know that."
"He is a threat to you. he will attack you, or even possess or corrupt you."
"possess?"
"to control you"
I wake up the next morning. that was quick.
COLI'S POV
Ahri, finally calm now, decided that everyone had to go to bed. Carrying Alice, well, DRAGGING Alice, I put her on the floor next to her bed. "Close enough." I mutter. Quietly opening and closing the door, I sneak off to the kitchen for a snack. Ahri manages to find me. "What are you doing, Colli? It's bedtime!" Trying to disappear, I whimper and muster the best cute eyes I can. Hoping I look innocent, I say angelically, "I wanted a snack to take into bed with me." Maybe I should've said water. "We don't have spare food Colli. You KNOW that." Feeling ashamed, I try to think of another excuse. "Oh, I uh wanted to show you something!" I say quickly. Raising an eyebrow, she says "Oh?" Remembering each step of the process, I complete the Guiding Light spell. Twirling it on my finger, I feel happy now. Ahri looks surprised and proud! "I learned it from my book!" Talking so confidently, I try to inch towards the stairs. Seeing me moving away, she hustles me to my room/Purity's. It is completely dark, and the blotch of mud in the broken window looks horrible. I crouch on my un-needed bunk bed. At the top bunk, I shiver under the thin, wool covers as though they are sheets of ice. Throwing the blanket on the ground, I spy my bookcase filled to the brim with colorful stories. Thinking about that made me hungry for a good book. Sliding down the ladder, I reach for a book-and then pull away my hand. Suddenly I don't feel like reading. I feel like watching the glowing white fireflies outside, and trying to find a constellation. Stepping towards the mud-filled window, I push out the oozy brown stain. Plop! It falls onto the ground in the cool night. Gazing out as close as I dare to the dangerous glass shards, I pick out a few bright stars directly on the horizon. Tracing them together, they form a paw shape. "The Paw Stars...: I murmur. I feel elated that I discovered a constellation, and jot down where it is on a stray paper. 'Paw Stars: East horizon on-' I think. Looking at how bright it is, I guess it's a full moon. 'Paw Stars: East horizon on the full moon.' Drawing out how they look in the sky, I include a slight glow to them. Putting the notes wedged between a ladder rung, I plop onto the bed, now grateful for the icy sheets. At least they are something. Soon I drift into sleep, only to be awakened by a howling gale. Covering my head, I fall asleep again, awakening into a seemingly perfect world. I wake up in the house, smelling pork cooking. Mmm! Rushing downstairs, though, I don't see Ahri or Avi or Emma, not even Alice or Purity. They are fox people. Just like me. some sit at a table, others play in a once empty pool. Some have amber ears and tails, some have bright scarlet fur. Gasping, I see an older vixen that looks just like me. "M-mom?" Gazing right back, it is her. My mother
JAMES' POV
It was a cool morning, not to cold, the cold that makes you want to run around in circles, I was being a fox, searching for more rabbits again. Rabbits are all I seem to eat these days, I'd eat other things but there don't seem to be any other animals... Walking through the forest I find a well worn path,
"Animals made this maybe?" I thought to myself as started to wonder how this was made. Wandering along the path I reached a clearing with luscious green grass with a hill under a house (Yeah I think a little backward) a girl with a bunny that was hoping around we're just out side the house.
"FOOD!" I thought to myself,
"And it's not one of those scrawny starved rabbits either..."
As I got closer to te brake in cover I formulated a plan,
"So I run in and take the girls rabbit then run of with it in my jaws.."
I reached the end I the cover, now or never. I tense, then sprint as fast as I possibly can, I was just about to grab the delicious rabbit when BAM, all I can see white, I briefly open my eyes enough to see the girl holding a light orb,
"What!? She was a Mage?! Argh, why didn't I think that through!"
I concentrate my magic and think
"Bear, bear, bear, become a bear!"
I start increasing in size, my paws become large, my teeth grow sharp an long. I open my eyes to see the girl frozen in fright, I stare t the bunny, I can't wait for my next dinner, I haven't had one for five days! I feel myself become weaker with the new to keep my magic flowing into this form,Better finish this now. Then suddenly the rabbit also increases in size turning half human!
"Were you really going to try to eat me?..." says the bunny girl
"Colli," she says to the other girl, "Fetch ahri, quick!"
The girl runs of, proud of saving her friend but worried at not finishing the job
"I don't know who you are but you're not a bear or a fox, you're an animagus."
How did she know what I am?! This girl obviously is very intelligent with magic, obviously considering she too can transform.
I can feel the strain of keeping my bear form up, I'm about to swipe my paw with claws extended, a fateful blow, when out of no where, she smacks my snout. That's it, my form couldn't hold any longer, I slowly shrink back to human, a young male with black hair and blue eyes and a long scar along my left hand.
I pass out as a lady with nine tails, presumably ahri, opens the door and runs out to help bunny girl.
I wake up with a thud as I land on a hard wood floor, landing on my broken left arm and giving off a loud shriek.
"Suck it up." says ahri, obviously enraged at the fact I attacked one of her.. Friends? I can't be sure, for all I know they're cousins.
"Who are you?" asks bunny girl
"None of your business!" I grunt back in return,
Suddenly my hand is ablaze, then back to normal but withered burn marks
"You attack one of my family and then waltz in here and say that, SPEAK WITH RESPECT!" she yells shortly before slapping me. I can feel my sore red cheek throbbing.
A girl walks up from the side of an older boy to ahri and puts her hand on her shoulder humming a tune, ahri instantly loses her anger and everyone but me seems to put on a smile.. Weird.
"Fine," I reply, "My name is James, I have no family currently and not do I remember having one. As your bunny friend figured out I'm an animagus."
"My name is Alice" says bunny girl.
"You look tired," inclined Ahri, "Maybe a nap?" she points her finger at me and instantly I'm asleep.
I wake up at the bottom of the hill at midnight, to weak to move.
"This is it isn't it?" I think to myself, "All those years surviving by myself and ending up dying at the bottom of a hill? Pathetic." I'm too weak to move and pass out again, the sun is a couple meters higher than the horizon. I pass out again and see that te in is lower than before, must have been our for a day at least.
Dear god I hope that family pities me...
ALICE'S POV
It was the next morning, and it was rainy. I pouted. I hated rain. I slipped out of bed, no longer enjoying its comfort, and started my day. I showered, brushed my teeth, dressed, and went downstairs.
It was early. Too early for anyone to be up. Bunnies always wake up early. The next ones up would be Ahri, Colli, and maybe that James guy, since they were all foxes, you know?
Nose wiggling, I began munching on some broccoli. Ew, it was squishy. Why was it squishy? In the semi-darkness, I looked down at it to realize it was a brussel sprout. NO.
Spitting it out, I rummaged for more food, rifling through the bottom drawer of the fridge while still standing up, leaving me in an uncomfortable position with my legs straight and my face pressed against the glass of the other drawer. Naturally when I heard someone's voice, I jumped. But unfortunately, my odd position caused me to slam my head on the shelf above me when I jumped. How pathetic.
Turning around, I saw it was that James guy. I scowled and slapped him.
"You tried to eat me."
"And you hold a grudge." He responded simply. Sass to ME? Mm, not going to happen.
I slapped him again, to put him in his place. I guess he was sort of cute in human form. Not going to be let off the hook, since he wasn't my type. But still cute overall.
Glaring to hide this realization, I said, "so what are you, some kind of shapeshifter or something?"
"Yeah, sort of."
"I'm not." I smiled happily, to throw him off.
Confusion crossed his face. "What?"
"Other shape shifters have infinite forms. I only have four."
"And what are they, if you don't mind me asking?"
"I do mind you asking." I said, as-a-matter-of-factly. This was probably funny to watch. He was trying to be all polite but I was shooting him down every time. I wondered if he had the ability to turn into any animal. Ahri and Colli would develop a crush on him because he could turn into a fox. Avi was too young, but she'd find him "nice" because he could turn into a bird. Me...well, I knew he'd never become more than my friend. I doubted he could turn into a cute bunny. Probably one of those jackrabbits, all skinny and long-legged. Ew!
And in case you were wondering, my type of bunny shapeshifting guy is white cottontail. Cute like me.
And he left. Because I was too mean. I cheered a silent cheer of victory.
The others began to wake up. Ahri first. I beamed at her.
"Hi Ahri!"
She smiled back. "Hi, Alice!" She bopped my nose, just to see me scowl cutely. I obliged from pure reflex. The scowl disappeared, and I pouted.
"It's raining." I cried. I stuck out my lower lip further.
Ahri stroked my bunny ears. "Shh...it'll all get better." What I didn't notice was Robby following her. And with a quick snap of his fingers, the rain stopped and birds sang. I clapped in delight.
"Do it again! Do it again!" He made rain appear, then disappear. I smiled happily.
"Thank you!" I said, before leaping into a big hug. There was nothing romantic between us, but I liked hugging him and acting all cute with him just to get Ahri on my case a little. It was fun to annoy her, like I was the littlest sister. Even though Avi was.
Colli and Chris came down next. They were pretty quiet, I didn't know what was up with that.
Next came Avi who was chipper and sunny. A little more than usual. I didn't know what that situation was either, but I didn't give it too much thought. She probably slept well, or ate something good before bed. She'll tell us if she wants.
And she did tell us. But it wasn't anything I had guessed.
Not even close.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
JAMES' POV

My face was throbbing. Why is she do damn good at slapping? Ah well, I have to put up with it, I would have died a pathetic death if they didn't bring me back. I can sense their anger towards me, they say certain animals have special abilities and I seem to get a little but of each. I wish one animal had telekanisis, that would come in handy.

That Alice girl... I wish she'd get over me trying to eat her, I've had things try to eat me tonnes of times, I was nearly digested one time... I've tried to make peace with her but everything I confront her wen others aren't around she slaps me.

I don't sleep as I can turn into nocturnal animals too, I have no need. I can sleep though. They were nice enough to give me a bed, every night I get into and pretend to be asleep, then, when everyone's asleep, I get out of the house and explore. They don't know I can turn into any animal yet so I'll keep with the fox bear story. That's what I've been telling everyone but Alice knows whats up... I wish she'd get over it, I swear my face will be permanently red soon.. Last night I changed into a hawk and soared the skies until I found some carrots, I took three and left the rest. As soon as I heard Alice wake up I got out of bed and went down to see her rummaging for food.
"Perfect!" I thought, "Maybe she'll accept these carrots as a peace offering if she's hungry."
I heard murmuring upstairs and turned around, seeing no one. I turned back around but I stumbled, making a noise. Alice got a fright and hit her head, I kinda felt sorry for her until she turned around with a scowl on her face, right then I knew I'd need to feel sorry for myself very soon. She slapped me a lot even when I was just trying to be polite. I got so enraged I could have turned into a bear and finished her right then and there but I didn't do that, or show her my anger on my face, I didn't want to give her that pleasure.

I left the house and went into the forest. It's where I kept all my loot, well, just one picture. It was a picture of mum and me, we're running down a path with our backs to te view point. The picture is in a Lockett, I suppose it belonged to her. I grabbed hold of the locket and squeezed it hard, feeling the energy inside. It calmed me down.

"I'll show her..." I thought to myself and turned into a male copy of her rabbit. I bounced around a bit but stop when I tripped and landed on my face. My picture isn't my only loot though, my mother had a diary, it's pages totally blank though...

I picked up the diary and opened it up to the first page, expecting the normal blankness but instead I was suprised to see black, curly writing. It said:

James, to be reading the first pages of this diary, you must have found a place to call home, some where safe. James I'm sure you are very aware that you are an animagus, shapeshifter and that you can change shape to what ever you like. While you may get tired from using big forms, this will go away in due time. Getting better at your powers will unlock more of these pages. James I did not abandon you, I love you and always have and if it was up to me id be with you. Oh and James, she's not just a bunny or a human.

A droplet of water slid down my face, I knew it was not rain because that had stopped log ago, it was because for the first time in my life, I knew I had a mother, and she loved me.

I thought about one thing in the journal.. "She is not just a bunny or a human." Was that Alice? If so, how did mum know I'd meet her? And how is she not just a bunny human? It's not up to me I guess. I turned into a hawk and flew back to the house.

MASON'S POV

I was so confused. I've only just arrived to this mystical place, and there is so much to take in. Finally, these people are different, like me. As you know, I'm part Tiger, having its skills of deception, perseverance, and its beauty. I also posses to powers, i have gained from my parents before they died in... Well I control all forms of water, but the other power is a bit more... well lets just say I don't feel comfortable telling them yet. They might shun me away like the others. I've been an outcast of three of these families, but none had members quite like this. These ones would fight, yet when the time called for it, they would all give there lives for each other. This power is if, I don't control myself, i get lost in another persons thoughts. I mean that literally. I can enter there mind, and see what they've seen.

Where are my manners? My name is Mason. I am exactly what I have described above, but the elders say I am destined to be much more.

Ahri kept flirting with me, and for some reason, felt like I was in a trance. I almost was taken in by her majestic beauty but Alice snapped me out of it. She took off her hood, and said she was tired. She was so cute on my lap, and when I saw the two birthmarks on her neck, that looked like my birth sign, and the strange formation I keep having visions about, I knew it wasn't luck that had brought me here. I thought I could escape my old world, but it always seemed to find me.

The world started spinning. Oh no, this cant be happening. Not to this young girl, no! NO!!! Its too late.... I've entered her dreams.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AVI'S POV
"Look! My flower finally bloomed!" I say. they don't know I had made it bloom.
"That's great!" Ahri says. I gobble up my breakfast. The previous night I had met with Peregrine, we flew together, yes I flew. I'm my special Dream Land. well the Spirit Land. I'm glad I haven't seen Talon again.
"Why do you look so tired? have you been outside?" Colli asks. she is very observant.
"Dunno." I reply. "And no I have not been outside."
"Okay..." She says while she walks off. I see her glance back suspiciously.
what? I haven't been outside.
I walk over to the open window and shut it.
"You keep forgetting to shut this" I say to Ahri. Ahri takes off my bandage.
"I'm going to heal this, okay?" She tells me.
"Kay" I say. while she heals it I think about what I read in the book. It talked about the sea, feeling the wind, and smelling the ocean breeze. I want to see the ocean. when she finished it looked like my arm was never injured.
"Thanks!" I grin at her and run off to the kitchen for a snack. I snatch the book and read it while I eat an apple.
"Sailing? sounds a bit dangerous, but fun." I thought. I put down the book and jump onto the couch. I flick on the TV to hear it talking about a "dragon migration" .
Ooh" I thought. "I'm gonna like that"
I tell the rest of the family about it. they seem interested. Ahri says we will go. The migration starts in two days. Well one. it's bedtime now. I grab a book about dragons and read it in my room. I read in the book. Being too lazy to get up, I toss the book on the floor. Thump. I pull my blanket over my shoulders and fall asleep. I get up and walk towards the door. I trip and fall over. I shouldn't have left the book on the floor. I put it back where it belongs. I walk down the stairs jumping over two steps and land on the bottom floor. It reminded me bout flying. I look at my shoulder blades and the rest of my arm. I see some feathers growing in. I grin and run into the dining room. I jump over the back of my chair and land in front of it. I sit down and stretch. I see the others coming in. Ahri puts a plate in front of me. mmmm. Bread, milk, and apples. . Everyone starts to talk so I start a conversation.
"In my book, I read about the ocean and sailing. can we go sailing? Or at least see the ocean?" I ask
"Okay. but maybe in a week. We are already going to the dragon migration." Ahri tells me. I push out my chair and I tell everyone that I'm going outside. It was snowy out so I pull on my boots and and put my aqua jacket on. I wind my scarf around my neck and I walk outside. I was going to walk far, but not far enough so I couldn't see the house. I climbed up the hill and happily sprinted down it at full speed. I loved doing that. I can feel the wind. it sorta feels like flying. I go around a little hill to see one thing. A dragon egg. I know its a dragon egg, in that book I studied all the Illistrations. The egg was smooth and somewhat large. I looked around. I don't see parents. I look in the snow. no footprints. I look in the sky. Still. No dragons. I was completely sure it was abandoned. and it was. I quickly unwinded my scarf and put it around the egg. even if there was parents, with my scent on the egg, they won't accept it back. I brushed the snow off the cold egg. I put my ear to it. The baby dragon was alive, so I brought it back to the house. I ran carefully to our fireplace. It put it in front of it. The others walked in and asked questions like "What ya got there?" or "Is that a dragon egg?" .
"Yes it is. And it's abandoned." I tell them. The egg was warming up. I knew that this dragon would survive, and I would raise it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ALICE'S POV

Things went downhill pretty fast.

I was in bunny form, stumbling around in the snow. Scrounging for some carrots. Oh gosh, I hadn't had a nice fresh carrot in so long. My mouth watered and my nose twitched thinking about it.

I finally found one. It was huge and boasted a vibrant orange color that contrasted beautifully against the pure white snow. I hungrily pounced upon the inanimate object, gnawing away at it gleefully. It was so good. It tasted better than any other carrot I'd ever eaten. It was sheer bliss.

Munching on the carrot with snow falling in serene silence, I began to head back to my new home. I moved in only weeks ago but it felt like a lifetime was spent with them. I already had a vast new wardrobe, since evidently Ahri likes to shop for cute things. I was her Barbie doll. I still am.

She picked out a variety of skirts, more or less all of them being black, pink, or both. My shirts were all black or pink. It seemed like my color scheme would be black and pink. Biker chick skirts, frilly tutus with tiny studs, fishnet stockings (surprisingly NOT cute, moreso seductive, but I MADE them cute), a variety of preppy or rebellious shirts, and a dozen pairs of shoes, ranging from flip flops to flats to heels to biker boots with a waterfall of metallic studs along the side.

Ahri liked shopping a lot.

Setting the carrot down, I hopped in the tiny bunny door Purity installed just for me. It was only six inches by six inches, but plenty big enough for a cute bunny like me. I popped in, and yanked my snack through the door.

Hopping to the fireplace without thinking, I tried to warm up, but realized I needed to get into human form. The others had began to pet my ears like I was really a bunny, not a girl inside a bunny body. I shapeshifted quickly, feeling black corkscrew curls fall down my head in graceful ringlets.

I was greeted in human form with choruses of "hey Alice" or "hi bunny". Avi called me over and I sat by her, still in a carrot-coma. That carrot left me in bliss. It was only then when I looked at the fire. And what did I see?

A dragon egg, warming itself by the fire.

Uh oh.

I tried to walk away but I couldn't.

Things went downhill pretty fast.

I knew I wouldn't be able to stop what was about to happen. And frankly, I don't want to go into depth and explain to you what was going on. Some things, I need to keep to myself. My little secret.

I will say that my usually deep, almost-black brown eyes began glowing, though. A ruby tint colored my bunny ears and my fluffy tail. I hoped no one noticed how my voice took on a double sound, one being my usual tinkling bell voice, an the undertone being a harmonizing, deep, scratchy sound. I hoped no one noticed how my lips turned ruby red as opposed to the pink lipstick shade Ahri let me borrow.

But all those hopes were in vain.

I knew the others noticed how different I was.

I knew it.

And I knew there were going to be questions to follow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AHRI'S POV
Avi seemed...strange. She was by now means her normal self. Her feathers had a strange shininess to them, and she seemed distant. as if she was somewhere else...
"Avi?" Mason said sheepishly "Are you okay?"
"Okay....what does the word "okay" mean? is it a Pre-South Park pronunciation of m'kay? A word used to get people OUT OF YOUR FACE? 'OH MY GOD. THERE'S A ROBBER IN MY HOUSE!' 'Okay.' I guess one would say i am in fact, "Okay", im not good, nor bad. im not really sure to be honest, but im happy!" Avi smiles. everyone looks mind-blown at the intelligent demeanor of this six year old girl! I was more concerned at why she was watching south-park...
"Masooonnn!" Alice says adorably, pouting and tugging on his arm (The nerve!). "Can you use some of your amazing magic to try and fix avi?" She gives him her bunny eyes.
"Im not sure if my magic can fix her...im sorry to disappoint you alice" She looks down, never failing to be adorable...
I pull alice to the side "This is not the time to be flirting!" I say, looking angry myself. "Im sorry, but you are adorable when you are angry, almost as adorable as me!" She stood up on tip toes to boop me on my nose, like i did to her.
Purity suddenly walked in
"I Think i have an idea. ahri." she says smugly in her beautiful voice. She held an adorable ginger kitten, with intelligent looking eyes and two tails. The kitten jumps down from pure's arms, and she suddenly transforms into a human.
"AWW COME ON! ANOTHER ONE?!?" Emma exclaims in disbelief. Pure shushed emma, and somehow still managed to make it sound beautiful. The cat woman held a staff, it had jewels that were somehow levitating in the staff, it took me a minute to stop looking at them, and look at the girl. she wore green, which complimented her ginger hair nicely.
"Pure said she needed my assistance, my name is Repaire, and i am here to help" She said in a soft, wispy voice.
She walked over to avi and got on one knee in front of her.
"Hello little bird, what is your name?" She said with a smile
"Names are an elusive thing, to come up with an original one is almost breathtakingly difficult. whether its thinking of a name for a child, or a name for the perfect character in world of warcraft, or skyrim if you prerfer, have you ever heard of perfect world international...." She continued to babble on and on.
"She isnt usually like this." Colli said.
"I would be surprised if she was, she might not still have her voice at this rate! i sould probably start doing my job. pure? would you mind helping me?" Pure smiled and nodded. Repaire raised her staff, and it started to glow a a light blue color. as she did this, avi looked at the staff, transfixed, as pure walked to her and started singing. it was the most beautiful sound i have ever heard in my life! when she stopped singing, i got afraid i would be depressed, because all other sounds might be a letdown... eventually, avi lost the gleam in her feathers, and her eyes changed back to their regular color. we sould keep this newcomer, even if our family is alittle to big as it is....
JAMES' POV
I hadn't been back at the house for two days, although I doubt they noticed anyways. I'm still deciding whether to even go back, my mother did say it was a safe place... I've been practising my powers, getting better and better. I flew back to the house yesterday hearing laughing voices and happy tones, guess their fine with out me...
As I was saying, I have practiced my powers a lot recently and I found out a very cool feature. Before I thought the only parts of animals I kept when I was in human form was animals senses and such, but I can also obtain small parts of them too. One day I changed my finger nails into bear claws, then I grew a foxs' tail! It was great fun.
I decided to back to the house, it was fun watching them play UNO. I picked up the carrots I grabbed for Alice, transformed into a hawk and headed home. I caught Alice on the way back to the house, crying.
"What, why is she crying?" I thought to myself. "Lets go find out"
I flew a couple meters away from her, dropped the carrots and picked them up again shortly after turning into a bunny. I hopped over to the slumped over figure of Alice with the three carrots, filling all of my mouth and sticking out the sides. I brushed my ear along her hand and she stuck her head up with extreme speed.
"Oh, it's just you," said Alice wiping her wet eyes, on the brink of tears, "Dd you get those carrots for me? Oh wow thanks bunny!"
I was happy to know I helped her, even if she'd never know it was me. I still wondered why she was crying, though I soon found out.
"That stupid dragon egg, oh they all probably think I'm a total freak now.."
"What dragon egg?" I thought to myself
Alice's eyes widened, shock all over her face
"James?" She whispered
Uh oh, I'm in the bad now, I talked out loud when I was thinking to myself, dammit!
"Change human, now!"
I reluctantly changed back to human and stood up.
"I can't believe that you did that!" yelled Alice " How dare you pretend to be a bunny and do that!"
"Do what!" I yelled back, infruiated that I was put in the spotlight for helping her, "Help you?!"
"Yeah I bet these carrots were poisoned!" Retorted Alice.
"I picked ten two days ago and went to give them to ÿõù when you were rummaging for food, then you slapped me before I could even mention them! I've camped out here for the last day and still saved them, although I bet you never noticed I was gone!"
This infuriated Alice as she did notice, but why bother sending a search party for him..
She ran off, as the sting of my last sentence sunk in. I turned into a hawk and soared into the sky flying ahead of her and landing infront whilst turning into human again.
"So you can turn into all animals." said Alice
"Yes, now come back with me to the house" I said
"I'll go alone thanks." replied Alice, the ice of her last words hung in the air with tension. She turned around and walked off.
COLI'S POV
As the stars swirled into view, I walked to my room with Purity. The floorboards creaked underneath me, but I wasn't scared. Purity would save me if that ever happened. Dodging the mess of books on the floor, I slither up the ladder rungs to the top bunk. Trying to create a Guiding Light to read with, I slowly reach for a book. Stopping the spell, I put the book away. I'll do one thing before sleeping. One thing. Creaking open my chest, careful Purity would not see, I take out a diary. My diary. Flipping to the second page, which had been finished last night, I start to write. 'Dear Aurora, I can't wait to see you tonight! I learned a spell- "Guiding Light" and I've mastered it.' Thinking thoughtfully, I add, 'I've also named my own constellation Paw Stars. It is two paws, and reminds me of us. Thats about it for tonight. Love, Colli.' Carefully, quietly, I slip the book in my chest. "Go to sleep now, Colli. You're going to wake us all up with that creaking." Purity said. Her voice sounded like chimes in a gentle breeze. Obeying, I nodded and whispered, "Yes Pure." Leaping to the ladder, I dodge the paper wedged between a rung and collapsed into bed. That was close. I heard howls outside. Arooooo! Rooroooo! AROOOOO! They seemed to say, "Don't fall asleep! DON'T FALL ASLEEP!" Smiling at myself, I thought, Why shouldn't I go to sleep if I'm seeing my wonderful Mum, and tribe? Suddenly I was pulled into sleep, not a gentle lull, but a quick, sudden pull. Waking up into my room on a sunny morning, I knew just where I was. Walking along the not creaky floorboards, I skip down to the kitchen to see her. Everyone here now chimed, "Hello Colli!" Nodding at the others, who had just said hello, I pick up speed to find Mum. Standing by the furnace, I saw her. She came in through the doors, bright and happy. "Hello Colli dear! How are you?" I smile and think, How could that be evil? "I'm doing great, Mom. Didja read it yet? I can't help missing you even though I see you every night!" She holds my hand and walks towards the now-new library. Running towards the fire, I crouch in front of the flickering warmth. Aurora (Mum) picked out a book and handed it to me. Whispering, she said, "I'll let you take one book back with you. Ok dear?" She smiled sweetly. I read the title. "Shape-shifting: Beginners". I squealed and hugged the book to my chest. "Thank you so much!" Aurora looked at me, slightly sad. "I'll see you tomorrow, Colli." I faded away, being sent back to the real world. Aurora, when I had faded, tapped something where the book had been. It glowed pink, pushing away a slate revealing a secret storage. All it contained was a dusty book labeled, "Colli's Diary."
ALICE'S POV
I bumbled around in the snow a little, reluctantly eating the carrots James gave me. I was still crying. I couldn't believe I acted like that when I saw the egg. What if something happened? What if I actually...
Nevermind that. I can't tell you what I might have done.
On my trek to the house, I ran into Purity. I quickly transformed into a girl and rushed to greet her.
"Hi Purity!" I bounced.
"Hello, Alice. Why are you out here?"
Oh no. What was I supposed to say now?! I couldn't remind her of how I acted towards the egg. Maybe I'll just pretend to not know anything. Maybe I should just run. Should I lie? Yeah. That's what I'll do.
As I scrambled to form an intelligent answer, Purity was still waiting. I snapped out of my trance, embarrassed to be caught thinking so long.
"I just...needed some air." The sentence came out strangled and choppy.
Purity looked at me oddly. I knew why. She knew better...Purity saw the truth and the good in everyone, which simultaneously gave her the capability to see right through lies.
And what I just said, was a major lie.
She stepped in closer.
"Why did you really leave?"
I faltered.
"You can tell me. The goodness and faithfulness in me will stop me from telling anyone else."
Something told me to believe her.
Something told me to trust her.
Ah, why not.
"Is the egg still there?" I asked. Purity nodded.
"I'm assuming your strange behavior has something to do with the dragon egg Avi found."
I remained silent.
Inhaling deeply, I motioned for her to follow me, walking towards the house.
We trudged in silence for five minutes, leaving light footprints in the freshly fallen snow. I began to wonder why she was outside, like me, all alone. Maybe she was looking for me.
We were almost near the house, and my stomach began to flutter. This was it. I realized EVERYONE was crowded around the egg, so if I showed Purity, I'd be showing everyone. Might as well. They have a right to know. I wouldn't tell them everything. Maybe I'd lie again, despite Purity's capability to detect lies. I wouldn't tell them the full truth, I'd just show them what happens when I'm near a dragon egg. I'd make up some lie about bunnies being allergic to dragons or something.
Stepping inside, the warmth of the fireplace reached its inviting arms to the doorway, where it engulfed us in its hot blankets. We drew closer to the fire, where the egg sat. I glanced at Purity, who was looking at me curiously.
Breathing in slowly, I cleared my throat and spoke up.
"Everyone, can I have your attention!" People stopped their humming chatter to listen.
I took off my leather jacket, leaving only a black tank top and a pink scarf. I removed my black boots, leaving only my black skirt and pink stockings. I tiptoed on stocking feet over to Avi and put my hands on her shoulders.
"As you obviously know, Avi brought home a dragon egg." I stepped back and prepared a lie about bunnies in my head.
"I guess I should tell you I have a fear of dragon eggs." Looking back at Purity, I could tell she knew it was a lie, but played along.
Quickly fluffing my hair, I stepped up to the egg. A rushing sensation came over me. I covered my constellation birthmarks to hide the fact that they were glowing. Breathing in, I heard the others gasp as they witnessed my white ears turn light red. More of a pink shade, if you will. My eyes went from dark brown to red. Not cute at all but this was natural. They saw my pink, full lips burn bright, vampire red.
I spoke, and they recoiled in shock how my voice took on a double sound, one being my normal twinkling voice and another being a deeper, scratcher, metallic harmony.
"So...you'll be like this every time you see a dragon egg?"
I nodded guiltily, knowing that I was an excellent liar, and that everyone minus Purity would believe me. But I began acting strangely again, not myself. I was silent, and my eyes took a hungry, vicious look. I knew I had to stop lying about this and get away from the wretched egg. So I turned into a bunny and popped up the stairs. Turning human once more, I leaned over my dresser and breathed in and out. My whole body was shaking and my skin was an unnaturally pale shade.
I couldn't do this for long. One of had to go. Either me or the egg.
Once I regained my composure and redid my makeup, I came downstairs with a smile.
A fake smile, of course.
COLI'S POV
Gathered round Alice at the small but strong fire was weird. I never saw my bunny so pale, her eyes so...red. Scarlet even. after she left, then came down again with a smile, I knew something was wrong. she wouldn't leave to come back. well, if she is allergic then I HAVE to get rid of that egg! Running up to my room as the sun rose into a position above the house, I then threw down tons of books. looking for one book. "Dragon Encyclopedia" was its name and I looked EVERYWHERE for it. I still found it hard to believe this house had so many books. Throwing the last book on the ground, I sigh. Now I remember. Ahri took my "Dragon Encyclopedia" from me and stored it in her room. HER ROOM. Nobody had been in there yet. In fact, it was down in the basement. Calling over to Purity, I ask her where Ahri is now. "Ahri? I think she went out hunting for chickens. Left about a minute ago." Purity still sounded perfect as always. "Thanks Pure!" I said. Rushing out, I added, "And be a sis and clean up my stuff!" Purity glanced at my floor, grimacing. "This will take a while..." Starting to put the books back, she looked at titles. Setting aside a few books of her own, she continued. I ran down to the cracked, mossy dining table and turned to the bottom of the stairs. Standing there, cold and menacing, were two iron doors. Locked. Sadly they weren't cracked or old, as Ahri had replaced them with strong doors. I wonder why. Peeking around the staircase, I took a small chunk of cold pork. Last minute I decided to warm it by the fire. Emma was there, watching the egg with curiosity. Relizing I was there, she said, "I wonder what kind it is." Mumbling, I said, "Me too." I was wary of her because, well, who wouldn't be of a vampire? Her red eyes weren't what scared me. It was her gleaming white fangs, capable of drinking my blood just like that. "You don't have to be scared of me Colli." She had noticed my quivering body. Wow she was smart. "I can't help it." I whispered as quietly as I could. Placing a comforting pale hand on my shoulder, she smiled revealing her fangs. Screaming, I ran away with my food terrified. Purity, Alice, and Avi came to see all the commotion. "S-sorry. Emm scared me." Plastering my fake smile, I hoped they would believe it. Purity knew what had really happened when Emma came out of the library looking downcast. I backed away to the old kitchen and ate my warm pork. Then my strength returned to my hobbly legs and quivering arms. My orange ears relaxed and stood rigid and straight in my short brown hair. green eyes gleaming, I try to pry open the doors to the basement where Ahri stays. "Hey! I'm back everyone!" I heard the swirling wind outside and the doors jerked open as Ahri approached the dining room. Oh no.
AVI'S POV
I walk to the fireplace and sit by the egg. Emma was sitting by me. We talk about the egg for a while. Tomorrow was the dragon migration. But having a dragon egg in my house was better. I thought of name for the little dragon. Tatsuya. It means dragon Assertive. I didn't choose it for its meaning, I liked the sound of it. I lean of Emma, yawning.
"Ready for a nap?" She asks.
"Yup." I close my eyes but I don't fall asleep. I always turn my head to look at Tatsuya. I get off Emma and head to the kitchen for a snack. I munch on a carrot. Then I start thinking.
Do the others like him? Or are they just acting like that so I don't get upset? well Emma seems happy with 'im.
I walk outside and check the place I found him. I sigh with relief. It looks like no dragon is angry that he/she is gone
I run back inside and I hear Colli throwing books around.
"I'm glad I don't share a room with her." I mutter. I walk up to our new family member, Repaire. I get to know her more, so I walk off. I see Purity pass by and I say hi to her. She says hi back in her beautiful voice. I hear Colli in the dining room and I hear Ahri come into the house.
"Hi Ahri!" I say with delight.
"Hi Avi! Did I miss anything?"
The others walk in to greet Ahri, well everyone but Colli. he's probably grabbing a snack.
"Well" I begin. "I thought of a name for the dragon.".I thought I saw Alice flinch at here word dragon. "His name will be Tatsuya"
Everyone agrees with the name.
"Could we think of a nickname for the little guy? Something easy like Flare." Emma says
"Sparky!" I yell. the others nod in agreement and they leave the room. I walk up to Alice while she is still alone.
"Alice?"
yes?"
"Is what you said true? About you and the egg. I mean, so ALL bunnies are afraid of dragons, so they change color? Or is it just you?"
