IMPORTANT: 1.8 Temp Server Rules

Hi there everyone!

I would like to make the call right here right now, that all member rules apply on the Temp Server, unless Inspiron says otherwise. Just because we are all survival, doesn't mean we all need to act like savages and make it a free for all.

This order doesn't extend retroactively, so if you have been griefing other peoples stuff before this was posted and a couple of days have passed (I'll call the 9th September, 11:59pm AEST as realistic time for people to read this or be pointed to it), then you luckily won't face consequences. If anyone reports grief/rulebreaking, then when I get my command set back, they will be personally jailed by me for a day.

This entire post can only be nullified by Inspiron's word (Screenshots or official reply). I frankly don't care about the opinion of those who want the server to descend into chaos, with no rules to enforce. This is a decision made by me, after realising there is ambiguity regarding this matter. Please raise any concerns about this new measure with me personally.

In case you have forgotten, the rules you should be obeying (and have been, and will be, for any period you spend on McTopia) are:

No griefing

No spamming (that includes chat spamming and command spamming)

No advertising/promoting anything or anyone in anyway

No discrimination of any kind (sexism,racism,etc) or any hate speech.

Do not impersonate anyone (saying you know the owner, from planetminecraft, etc.)

No asking people to spawn things for you

No killing someone in their home/mine

No scamming

No Excessive cursing or caps lock

No placing preciousstones in random places

No asking to be promoted

No disrespecting any staff member

No bothering staff if they are obviously busy

No harassing other players on the server

No exchanging passwords on the server in any way (if you get hacked you will get banned)

Do not use offensive skins

Do not create any lag machine of any kind/trying to lag the server.

Have common sense

But thing is how exactly are you going to punish someone on a temp server? Only Alex can do the punishing if it is even going to be dealt

As I said, people will be dealt with when our commands come back with Bukkit. Of course, I'll use discretion and common sense when this is done, if anyone is unfortunate enough to be found breaking rules on a server with no actual way to see who has done damage.

If anyone has a problem with someone, use the usual channels of the Report thread, and it'll be followed on from there.

without a way to punish people rules arent really possible. you could just make a list of who broke rules but without bukkit we dont even have proof that someone did it without screenshots of them actually doing it. and also who makes the list? in a game primarily dominated by young players who do we trust to make a list like that, and who has the time? there would have to be multiple lists and who keeps track to make sure people arent punished for the same crime twice? the way i look at this s like the movie the purge. all crimes are legal. im consider myself a survivor in that sense, im not gonna break into someones home and murder them, but i will be prepared to defend myself

As I pointed out above, this will work on Reports/screenshots. I'll concede that looting and griefing someone's house when they aren't online isn't a hard thing to imagine, it's just the fact that we want to feel safe when we are online, especially for those who play Minecraft to build. I apologise for ruining the status quo but unfortunately I would rather alienate people from performing petty PvP with the people we are trying to impress (the newer members of the community) than lose them forever because people turning into Gryphmaster and just PvPing for fun.

The main rule I want to enforce is homekills, something easy to prove via screenshots, and something easy to follow up when people want it to be. If someone just reports for the hope of getting stuff back, then they return to their SD castle and fortress, it'll be looked at with less weight than someone who is a member and needed the stuff.

There are staff commands, just more powerful ones. Just because we all have the same name colour doesn't mean we all have the same access to commands.
