I'll be brief, but it's something I need to ask the general public of these forums.
Why can't you play nice?
It's something that your mothers all said to you when you were younger. Don't you remember, playing in the sandbox, and you kicked sand in another kid's face? Don't you remember her coming over to lecture you about playing nice? Don't you remember apologizing to the kid you hurt?
Well, apparently not. Because disrespect is something I'm sure you ALL have noticed recently here, and it is most obviously not welcomed anywhere.
I'm not trying to point fingers, but I do have to say that disrespect of religion has really been irritating me lately. It's absolutely RIDICULOUS to insult another person's religion. Pointless, stupid, ridiculous, unwelcomed, and absolutely unnecessary.
A belief is a belief, and for anyone to insult another's belief is unneeded. Everyone shelters their own thoughts, and when someone is brave enough to put them out in the open, it's extremely discouraging and rude to see them shot down by the public.
No one is right, no one is wrong. Beliefs are beliefs.
And that's why it's NEVER a good idea to spark a discussion topic thread about religion. Someone always is shut down, someone is always hurt, someone is always rude. It never works properly and civilly.
Is that so much to ask?
A civil discussion about religion and beliefs?
I didn't think so, but apparently it is.
I don't frankly see the PURPOSE of putting someone else down. It benefits no one. I don't speak specifically about religion...it's rude to put down a belief of ANYTHING, whether it be race, religion, gender...anything. Sexual comments can be entertaining but quickly turn degrading. To any of you, please PLEASE do not take it too far. I didn't think it was too much to ask, but for some of you it is an extremely daunting task, and it gets extremely irritating extremely quickly.
I know it won't change much at all, but I hope I talked enough at you today and inspired you somehow to be kind and amiable. Lets get to a point where we feel safe enough to host a civil discussion about beliefs and ideas without being rejected and shunned by the community. And for those of you who promote that in our small society, I thank you and bestow upon you my gratitude and utmost love.
