Alright, I'm in the mood to present a seminar, so if you don't want to hear something deep and thought-provoking then I highly suggest you click the little "back" arrow in the upper left corner of your screen.
Here goes.
~DEFYING REALITY~
Schitzophrenia: a neurological disorder that causes the victim to experience hallucinations, say random things, and overall defy reality.
Defying reality.
What does that mean?
To go against whatever your mind receives...is that the blatant definition?
Yes and no.
That would be a straight, no-nonsense way of putting it, however if you study the way "defying reality" is defined, it is much deeper than what meets the eye.
Defying reality could be much more.
Defying reality is much more.
Defying reality…is what we do to survive.
On an optimistic idea, defying reality could be the very principle of innovation. Ignoring the voice in the back of your mind that tells you the idea of invention is impossible. The voice that keeps your faith in reality grounded. The voice that reminds you what the boundaries of human capability are. Defying reality in this case, would be an excellent tool, however this is a shallower point of much deeper waters.
Doing the right thing is supposedly what humans must do. Rather than a wish, it is an expectation. But temptation is a powerful tool. It clouds the voice I spoke of before. It washes a filmy gray haze over what you determine as “right” or “wrong”. Boundaries are overstepped, and lines are crossed. Maybe this isn’t news to you. But the following information will be the same information, but it will be looked upon in a different light:
Everything I just spoke of, about overstepping boundaries and crossing lines, is one of the many facets of Defying Reality.
Defying reality, in definition of this seminar, is the complete and total ignorance of what seems correct, morally just, etc. It determines what happens when you think you’re alone, although you should know by now that you are never alone, since your memory is a powerful device that will personally catalog all the things that you regret into your conscience. It’s almost like sweeping something under a rug. When you don’t want to deal with it, well hey, out of sight, out of mind.
When you defy reality you start whiting out the things you don’t want to see. You defy what you believe and know to be the good, just reality. But the odd thing about this is that we do it purposefully. Knowing it is wrong. Knowing that ignoring it won’t solve anything. Procrastination to its finest and strongest degree. You’ll know later though, that’s one thing. The one thing that takes Defying Reality to its humble flatness. The one thing that takes all its power away. The fact that you will always realize what’s going on. Because the key component of Defying Reality is knowing nobody is watching you push the right deed under the rug. And if you know you yourself are you push it into your blind spot, then why even bother with Defying Reality in the first place?
Recently I wasted a lot of time. I was punished for it, naturally.
I was trying to scratch out all my responsibilities. I was trying to push all the things I had to do into my blind spot. Fake innocence, fake the fact that I had some pathetic excuse. The only thing motivating me to Defy Reality was the fact that I was pushing my own conscience into my blind spot! Pretending I didn’t see I know I would replay later.
I won’t pressure you to Accept Reality all the time. I just want to make you aware that there’s no point in doing it. Your conscience will realize what happened, it will replay it over and over for your personal display. So if you Defy Reality, it’s meaningless because someone is watching. Always.
And that person is you.
