I'm new to the server (obviously) but I think they should be removed because they sound annoying and overpowered. Extending the range of the Lapiz should solve any problems with griefing (thats what the two blocks are for right? to stop griefing)

Well they are also to keep people out of things such as mob grinders and farms.

And unless you want to build a giant cage with fences of some kind of block, diamond blocks are the way to go

Well maybe it should be made that players and tune the blocks to the exact dimensions that they need to protect. A limit should be placed on how big they can be set to as well. I'm sorry if i sound stupid but i have no idea what i'm talking about. Is what I suggested possible?
