What's wrong with minecraft.net?

It says this on minecraft.net
Site is currently experiencing severe intermittent performance issues. Counter-action is being called into service. What exactly does this mean? I just wanna play mctopia D:

Well ive tried to get on the server on this computer not my other and i can't get on McTopia for some reason and i recently went to minecraft.net the webstite and it said our servers are working a bit to hard please come back again and it was just so weird
