Awesomeboo ban appeal

Now, I'm not really sure where my relationship stands with Bridget because she removed me from all social medias and we had fallout just before she left for the final time. I still regret some of the things I did back then and I mention that to some people infrequently, but, regardless I'm still counting her as a friend. As such I am following kittens' great example in not making a final decision until later on.

The fact that a player has come back after an extended period of time to apologize and not to try to say that the actions were justified rings positive bells for me. This shows maturity, reflection and the want for redemption in my eyes.

A lot of people know that I didn't like the way I used to talk an act on this server as I find it quite frankly, embarrassing. But over a year since Bridget left I've certainly changed a lot, all the staff on this server have and a lot of the regular community members have too. I'm sure that Bridget has matured a lot while she's been away. As any players would. To this day I see old members of McTopia log on and two things happen:

1. It shows that it's really hard to give up McTopia. Once you immerse yourself in the community, there's no going back. It's like joining a friendship group and then leaving, and in practicality, it is. You want to go back and see your old friends and make new ones too, you want to see what's happened, what's changed. More importantly, some people want to rejoin.

2. All the old members have changed a lot. They all talk differently and make different decisions. I think Bridget will do this too.

As to the reason she got banned, I think a lot of people were mad at that time. It wasn't a good one. An Admin being banned? That's never good for a server, but the fact that the issue wasn't resolved straight away made some people even angrier, thus, I see why bridget got angry and said those things, because at that point in her eyes it might have been true. I'm not saying that it was okay to say those things and it was completely not okay to say it. The fact is, inspiron does care about the community he has created. that's why this server is here in the first place, that's why the server is still running.

Another thing - Inspiron isn't the best owner. The best owner spends extremely large amounts of time on the server, looking for good plugins, helping sort out issues and problems. Does inspiron do this?
No.
I don't expect him to either. No normal working/learning person has that kinda time! Rather, inspiron does the best he can and that is all I need from him, and I'm grateful for it. He helps out things that his admins can't do when we ask him, he allows us to do things for the server, thus, in my eyes I couldn't see a better casual owner. Inspiron knows a lot about what he is working with, which makes the server a better place by configuring plugins, fixing big things like massive craters in the end, rolling back towns. Who would want to trade that in? I wouldn't. Inspiron did tons of things for me when I was a mod/trusted, something a larger server owner may not do. Why would a large server owner care about someone who can't donate?

I know you've said this in your post, but if there are two things that I'd like changed in you, is the things you've listed.

Don't assume people are attacking you
Don't try to force your opinions on others

Most people wont attack you, a lot are just be trying to be your friend, but sometimes you wont have an idea they agree with, or multiple people agree with, that's okay. Not everyone is going to agree with, unfortunately. Some people will try to attack you though, because we're on the internet and because people aren't talking face to face, they have the nerve to say something mean or cruel, as much as I'd wish this wouldn't happen, it does. You just need to ignore it.

Forcing opinions on someone is not something you want to do, it gives yourself a bad image, something that you really aren't. In life, some people simply wont agree with you, they might right but might be wrong. If someone isn't agreeing with you and you're CERTAIN you're right, just think to yourself,

'Everyone is entitled to the wrong opinion'

As an admin, people don't agree with me often, this little phrase makes me smile every time I think of it. So try that and don't try to force an opinion down people's throat. Then it'd be just like the old days.




Now that you've seen my opinion I'd like to say that yes, I do want her unbanned, but for the reasons above and simply because I know she's a nice and caring person. Sometimes it's just hard to see through everything else happening around it.

I vouch, but all who know me can say it’s not out of a past relationship or any past platonic memories.

Now here’s my reasoning.

Any old member with a long history here repetitively trying to come back always automatically shoves them into a blindingly positive spotlight. You’ve obviously shown this with your appeal and your past four accounts. It’s a definite sign of maturing character as well as the sheer mental stamina and perseverance that’s highly needed. A potent desire isn’t all the bulk that is needed, however in my eyes, it’s extremely necessary.

Your appeal was very well written.

As for the actions done on the awesomeboo account, I wasn’t present, so I don’t know a whole lot about the scenario. Many a time someone has painted out a synopsis for me, and I’ve asked a wide base of people with or without history with you to tell me the story. I know the basic skeleton of the story, and it appears to me as if the actions were done, and cannot be taken back. However nowadays you’ve handled the past with defined elegance and grace, supported by full apology and responsibility and that is an extremely mature and positive benefactor in your appeal.

Should you be unbanned on the accounts you favor, someone (I can’t recall whom) said it’d be appreciated if a demotion took place. I agree in the sense that starting from scratch is a good way to clean your slate and renew your reputation. That’s what Lord_Nick is doing currently and it’s working wonderfully for him. However LeevTheQueen is already Trusted, as well as unbanned. So probation is ensured, which is most likely comforting to others, although I always thought of demotions as a punishment for grief or other crimes easier with high ranks.

Overall, wonderful appeal. Welcome back, Bridget.

So, I'm going to be on LeevTheQueen for a while. If everything goes well, awesomeboo can be unbanned. Then, I'll slowly work my way back up to superdonor.

I am going to be honest and say that I found Awesomeboo pretty annoying. Even so, I can look beyond that and read the appeal as if I've never met the person, and I'd say this person should deffinitley be unbanned. It is a very, very good ban appeal.

I wanted to reaffirm what someone else commented, something I found most annoying on awesomeboo: Dont try to force your opinions on other people. It never happened to me, but I watched her try it on others and it just got on my nerves. If there was one thing you need to change, it's this (my opinion)

I vouch for giving boo another chance. Now that she has had time to think and maybe change some things, she should at least be given that: a chance.

I know most of this has been said before, but here is my big long speel.

I'm going to try and be neutral about my opinions, and look at this as if we never knew eachother personally, just as players. This opinion is exclusively about awesomeboo mark II (Brooke). I also (regretably) haven't talked to Bridget in literally a year, which is a real shame, but after all, she had no reason to associate with us after we banned her.

She was one of the most helpful people when I first started McTopia, and she showed me all the great things I could achieve here. She was also a major reason I donated, so I could become a better Roleplayer. It sadly never recovered, and ultimately died before I could use my newly acquired /i. But I still am reminded of what she did to the server. Both good and...

Bad. I cannot speak too much about this, as I did not see it, hear it or even have a Minecraft account when this incident allegedly occurred. I'm obviously talking about the 'Inspiron Diss'. From what was presented to me by everyone, it was said a long time ago, and she is sorry for it. Although it was extremely inappropriate for the time, I believe she was sticking up for a friend. Don't we all do this?

Boo contributed a lot to McTopia, and not only in just being there and chatting. She brought forward ideas that everyone except a few appreciated. Roleplay and the Boo's School concept are my basis of proof. She stood up against the status quo, and challenged the authority that were the better known players, some that still exist today. Without that, McTopia wouldn't be the same.

Even though what she said was bad, I believe she has learned from her mistakes, and become more mature. Therefore
