Also number 2, no one ever knew anything about the muggle world, they didn't know about rubber ducks. so why couldn't voldermort just gotten a nuke and just dropped it on Hogwarts, all the wizards would have been defensless..= jst get a huge bomb. through the vanishing cabinet BOOM
And lastly what if there is just a huge portrait of Tom Riddle in like. the attic of Hogwarts. so that's a like. a way for voldermort

1) Peter helped create the marauder's map, as he was one of the marauders. he know how to hide from it.
2) If voldemort just bombed hogwarts, it would not fulfill his prophecy to fight harry, and become the greatest wizard of all time. And what if he didn't know about bomb either.
3) Tom riddle was not always a bad man, and it would only have had captured him the way he was when the portrait was painted, and all it really could do is... well move picture to picture. Dumbledore stated himself that a portrait of a man is not the same as the actual person, and that's why harry couldn't rely on Albus's portrait after Albus died.
