Chapter 10?
As the stars swirled into view, I walked to my room with Purity. The floorboards creaked underneath me, but I wasn't scared. Purity would save me if that ever happened. Dodging the mess of books on the floor, I slither up the ladder rungs to the top bunk. Trying to create a Guiding Light to read with, I slowly reach for a book. Stopping the spell, I put the book away. I'll do one thing before sleeping. One thing. Creaking open my chest, careful Purity would not see, I take out a diary. My diary. Flipping to the second page, which had been finished last night, I start to write. 'Dear Aurora, I can't wait to see you tonight! I learned a spell- "Guiding Light" and I've mastered it.' Thinking thoughtfully, I add, 'I've also named my own constellation Paw Stars. It is two paws, and reminds me of us. Thats about it for tonight. Love, Colli.' Carefully, quietly, I slip the book in my chest. "Go to sleep now, Colli. You're going to wake us all up with that creaking." Purity said. Her voice sounded like chimes in a gentle breeze. Obeying, I nodded and whispered, "Yes Pure." Leaping to the ladder, I dodge the paper wedged between a rung and collapsed into bed. That was close. I heard howls outside. Arooooo! Rooroooo! AROOOOO! They seemed to say, "Don't fall asleep! DON'T FALL ASLEEP!" Smiling at myself, I thought, Why shouldn't I go to sleep if I'm seeing my wonderful Mum, and tribe? Suddenly I was pulled into sleep, not a gentle lull, but a quick, sudden pull. Waking up into my room on a sunny morning, I knew just where I was. Walking along the not creaky floorboards, I skip down to the kitchen to see her. Everyone here now chimed, "Hello Colli!" Nodding at the others, who had just said hello, I pick up speed to find Mum. Standing by the furnace, I saw her. She came in through the doors, bright and happy. "Hello Colli dear! How are you?" I smile and think, How could that be evil? "I'm doing great, Mom. Didja read it yet? I can't help missing you even though I see you every night!" She holds my hand and walks towards the now-new library. Running towards the fire, I crouch in front of the flickering warmth. Aurora (Mum) picked out a book and handed it to me. Whispering, she said, "I'll let you take one book back with you. Ok dear?" She smiled sweetly. I read the title. "Shape-shifting: Beginners". I squealed and hugged the book to my chest. "Thank you so much!" Aurora looked at me, slightly sad. "I'll see you tomorrow, Colli." I faded away, being sent back to the real world. Aurora, when I had faded, tapped something where the book had been. It glowed pink, pushing away a slate revealing a secret storage. All it contained was a dusty book labeled, "Colli's Diary."
