Chapter 3
I wake up in the morning, right at the crack of dawn. Pink is leaking into the sky and clouds so I rush towards the door. No one would see me anyway. as I sneak past Avi's room, I hear a moan. It sounded low. Quiet. Pained. Inching open the door, I tiptoe in with my ears erect and alert. My gold eyes search out Avi, laying soundless in her bed. Creepin forward to her, she has purple bruises on her face and arms. Gasping, I grab some makeshift bandages, pages out of a book. I hope they aren't important. Avi is mumbling incomprehensibly. trying to make sense of what is going on, I say, "It'll be alright Avi. Pretend this is an adventure! I'll be back soon." After about half an hour I'm back with some slightly stale bread to feed Avi. she has a big scar running down her shoulder blade. accidently dropping the bread, I fumble with it half scared to death. blood sinks into the nearby feathers and skin. Taking off pages from the bruises, I pile them onto the wound. "I wish Ahri was here, she knows EVERYTHING about healing!" Sighing, I get clean bread while munching on the stale bread. I then realize several minutes later that I can wake Ahri up. Dashing to her room, I prod her in the eyes and say, "AHRIIIII! Avi needs medicel attenshun!" Ahri's eyes open wide, but are glazed with drowsiness. she stands up and falters, but I can tell she thinks Avi just "bruised a knee." Looking at her worriedly I say, "It's serious." Of course, like all other people- or creatures- she thinks I am exaggerating about it being serious. Tugging on her arm, I pull her to Avi's dark room. My skin is pale and I'm sweating hard. Ahri senses this and walks without the tug on her arm. "is there blood, hon?" I nod slowly, scared. "Now Colli, how did it happen? It's 4:00 in the morning." Shaking my head, I whisper, "It appeared out of nowhere. she moaned and mumbled and... I'm so worried!" Ahri opens the door, and strides into the darkness towards the candle by Avi's bed.
