Well, if he says something, you reply with something kinda-smart alec, and make him feel like he is a worthless piece of trash, then when you correct him for being nice, he retaliates, and tries to act like people he admires.

But the comments he gives me are out of no where, I don't even say smart-Alec comments, unless he says something offensive towards me.
