My paws are damp from water from the lake. Mud squishes underpaw and wet leaves batter my head. "So much for shelter." I back into the only dry spot of the bush, a tree root. Mud staining my coat, leaves still battering at my head, I try to sleep. When I fall into a soundless slumber, bad dreams wake me up. Sitting awake, I block out the howling wind and splashing rain with comforting quiet sounds. Like the sound of a lyre that I once heard a human play. Swooo swo swo swoooooo. I imagine soft breezes. Fwish fwishhhh. In my fantasy land, everything was quiet and nice, while in real life everything was loud and scary. I suddenly was struggling to swim in the fantasy land. Water was soaking me thoroughly, and fur stuck to my skin like wet leaves. My eyes opened and looked around wildly. The bush was flooding! I struggle to stand on the root. Backing towards the tree trunk, I wondered what to do. Either drown here, or flee outside where more water awaits me. If only I could change into my human form...

I held my breath as I hoped to change. Nothing happened. I took my last breath and dove down into the water, with leaves and grass making the water too murky for sight. My eyes were squeezed tight and I listened for the pitter patter of the rain and howling wind to get out. Still hoping to change I swam higher. My fur was getting soggy, and weighing me down. Running out of breath, I swam harder and faster. Bubbles escaped from my mouth, and howling winds and rain laughed at me. "Resistance is futile! Drown....Droooown...." The wind was screaming at me now. My ears were against my head, flat, and I was trying to transform even harder than ever. My head bobbed above for a second, eyes opening, and then the ripples from the surface grew hazier and hazier. Eyesight turning black, I screeched. "HELP!" My muscles relaxing, my body settling on leaves and grass, I drowned...
