Nothing Gold Can Stay
#1
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

During my Grade 9 'golden' phase of my peak activity, this poem entered my horizon via the brilliantly penned book 'The Outsiders'. I retained it, due to it's significance as a story device as well as being a relevant poem for the period after. This got me through tough times of change and upheaval as I moved away and abandoned all those I had known. It's returning, person by person, and I hope the community can recover and reconnect just like I did.

I used to check these forums every morning, everyday.
I knew that wherever I was, I wasn't too far away.
But, in the light of the closure, and my dismay
I realise. Nothing Gold Can Stay.
THANK YOU
