Server Lag

I am writing this topic because I logged on to MCtopia to find that it was lagging horribly. Can someone find out if it is just me that has lag? Or is it server lag?

I get on and it's like i'm mot connected to the server, just not able to chat or do anything

I used to have that problem, until I devised a checklist. Here it is

Jam's 'Am I causing myself to lag' checklist

1: Do I have any Torrent clients open? If so, close it, and delete it
2: Do I have any VoIP services open? If so, turn off video, or shut it down
3: Am I trying to watch any videos, or do anything but surf the forums, or browse Facebook? If so... CLOSE IT
4: Could I be slowing down my internet connection? If so, close down everything but Minecraft
5: If all else fails, it is still your fault. Don't play Minecraft on 'Maccas' internet speed (<5mb/s)

If you use this checklist, you should be able to access McTopia with relative ease.

The server isn't lagging, its more of bad connection issues with bungeecord. It's very difficult for me to diagnose the problem since I, myself have no issues whatsoever. I am aware that others are though.
