I have seen the problem.
I have the same computer as you, and that constantly happens to me, 'cept my minecraft crashes.
Usually, I steal my dads laptop, get on McTopia and tp to some.
I think that certain parts of the map get very laggy for Mac users, so much that it causes the computer to have issues.

There is my solution, use a different computer to get away from that spot on the map, then use your computer again and see what happens.

Well, in those three secs I can warp around, and I do.
I can warp, and go home and stuff
My entire computer freezes. The thing on Skype telling how long the call has been stops.
