The server has been lagging alot latley! It crashed like 5 times just today! Is there any way to fix this?
2. Forum Suggestion
I think you guys should add a forum called "Help" where admins and inspironwins can help people with server problems. "Help" will have people who have problems with the server, with their rank, or with other glitches. You could report things like - I turned into a pre member, ect.
Whaddya think?
Well.
1: Server Lag:
Follow this checklist that I made earlier.
Jamourous wrote:I used to have that problem, until I devised a checklist. Here it is
Jam's 'Am I causing myself to lag' checklist
1: Do I have any Torrent clients open? If so, close it, and delete it
2: Do I have any VoIP services open? If so, turn off video, or shut it down
3: Am I trying to watch any videos, or do anything but surf the forums, or browse Facebook? If so... CLOSE IT
4: Could I be slowing down my internet connection? If so, close down everything but Minecraft
5: If all else fails, it is still your fault. Don't play Minecraft on 'Maccas' internet speed (<5mb/s)
If you use this checklist, you should be able to access McTopia with relative ease.
In summary: It's your fault, not the servers. Inspiron pays good money to ensure that the server never crashes, and it works. Do not blame the server for what is essentially your problem.
2: Forum Suggestions.
This I do agree with. It would help us out immensely in ridding the general discussion of problems people had already had many months ago.
I'll seriously consider it on one condition: Forum Spammers don't post in it for the sake of it. Heres an open letter to these people who post useless garbage.
Dear Forum Spammers.Treat it as a last resort, and not for complaining about stuff we already know about. If you see that the server is clearly out for maintenance (A dead giveaway is the 0/0 or 1/1 in the player list, rather than the 30 slots we usually have), Don't post "The server is down!" or "When is the server going to come back up?". Even if we knew, we wouldn't share that information, in case something bad occurs, and you hold us to our word, and get obnoxiously angry if it isn't up when we say. Likewise, Rank problems are for the donation section or Trusted section. You might say "But they don't get read as much as the General Discussion!", and yes, that is true. But there are 3 reasons for a rank problem:
Donation issue - caused mainly by impatient people who insist they get promoted the second they donate. Inspiron would know about this already, and
the rest of us don't want to hear about it in the General Discussion.Glitch - This is at no fault to anyone, but they do happen. As I said above, everyone knows, but we don't care that you think you are more important, and deserve it to be fixed for you and for you only. Get in line, there are people who have been here longer than you, and definitely deserve it more. You may say "But I'm the first one to post about it, I'm only doing people a favour!". The reason you're the first, is because the rest of us know that posting about it just irritates the crap out of the rest of us. Don't post it on the General Discussion,
It doesn't affect the situation.Something a player did - Whether it be getting demoted to premember, or getting ranked as anything lower than your usual rank, Its almost certainly your fault.
We don't want your ignorance to the rules clogging the General Discussion. Post it to the relevant page, Trusted or Donators. Expect a lot of "I told you so"'s and a long wait, because
if you do something stupid, you deserve to be treated the same. Also, stop spamming.
