MEMORIES PART 1
~~~~~~~~ Age 10 "Ellie! Stop it!" I giggle, pushed by baby sister off of me. "Tea-ckle! Tea-ckle!" Ellie said in her sweet, four year old voice. "Lacy, Ellie. Come to supper! I made your favorite stew, Lacy!" my mother shouted from the kitchen. I lift up Ellie, and carry her to the table. She had a new pink dress that Mother had sewn today. My brother, Charlie, went hunting with Father today. Rabbit stew was my favorite, and Charlie shot it himself. He'll be proud. On my way to the table, I nearly tripped over a loose board. I let out a squeal of surprise. "All you alright, Lacy?' Charlie called, running in. "I'm fine, Charlie. I almost tripped over this loose board. Father needs to repair this area of the house." I explained to Charlie. Confused, Charlie looked at the boards. He reached his hand towards the loose boards, and pulling back with a screech. Ellie buried her head in my dress, and whimpered. I hold her tight, and back away. "Charlie! What happened?!" I said, trying to stay calm for Ellie's sake. He looked up at me with a pale face, and wide eyes. "Charlie! Charlie!" I start to yell. Ellie starts to cry, so I whisper into her ear, "It's okay, Ellie-belly." "Ga... Ghost...Ghost!" Charlie shrieks, going into a fit. He shakes, and falls to the ground, his head hitting a nail, and starting to bleed. I ran into the kitchen to get Mother and Father. "Charlie... He's hurt. He said he saw a ghost, started shaking, then fell and hit his head," I told my parents, still trying not to scare Ellie. My mother glances at my father. "Robert. Do you think he's here? For Ellie, and Lacy?" Mother said to Father. "Who is he? What is going on? Is Charlie okay?" I asked, panicked. My father gave me a stern look. "Take Ellie and run. Go to the stream, and wait there for us. Don't come back. We may be... a while," Father told me. I obeyed him. I ran outside, whispering in Ellie's ear. "Charlie's got a little scrape. We'll play by the stream, and wait for mother, father, and Charlie. We will have a picnic by there," I told her. "It's dark, la-la. And cold!" Ellie cried. "It's okay, Ellie-belly. I'll always be here for you," I told her. GOODBYE |
