You shouldn't respect your elders just because they are older, but they should get the respect they deserve. If you treat someone like crap, you get treated like crap right back. If you respect them, they respect you.

This is the ish that annoys me. People come up to me and ask why I'm nice all the time. They say "well if I'm not respected then I won't respect you!"
Listen firsthand. NO. That's NOT how life works. You don't just go ham on everyone because they're not respectful. You don't get wrapped up in all the little things that push your buttons. That's not mature and certainly not smart. It's the most irritating thing. respect and love ALL no matter what you want in return, or if you get it.

I didn't say of sepne is mean to you, you are mean to them. If they ham on you, then you won't respect them. Not necessarily saying you should be mean back
